REQUIREMENTS
If this is NOT your first license renewal, and you are a salesperson you need to complete 16 hours of pre-approved Continuing Education topics.
This consists of eight hours of required topics and eight hours of real estate related electives. The eight hours of required topics include one hour each of Agency, Contracts and Legal Updates, two hours of Fair Housing, and three hours of Ethics.
Brokers need to complete eight additional hours of pre-approved real estate management and agent supervision courses required in addition to the 16 hours of required continuing education courses.
Visit the DPOR website to look up your license and check your continuing education status.
Residential Standard Agency course
Residential Standard Agency, a course mandated by the Virginia Real Estate Board, is required for all licensees -- continuing education and post-licensing -- whose licenses are expiring after June 30, 2012.
Those whose licenses expire prior to July 1, 2012 should not take the course until after that date.
The Hampton Roads REALTORS® Association has allocated fund to allow its members to take the course at no cost. Registration is required and can be done by using the link below designated for HRRA members.

RE MARKETING TIPS
How important is it to treat your clients or customers fairly and build positive relationships? The 2009 Edelman Trust Survey, a survey of more than 4,400 people across the globe, found that more than 91 percent of respondents chose to buy products from companies considered trusted. On the other hand, 71 percent indicated that over the past 12 months they refused to purchase from a company they distrusted.
